"I wish we had thought of writing that book."

In introducing this blog on LinkedIn, Bruce Davie says, "I commented to my co-author Larry Peterson `I wish we had thought of writing that book.' There is a real issue in how we traditionally teach networking: we use an idealised version of the Internet Architecture that doesn't accurately reflect reality. For example, various forms of tunnels (VPNs, MPLS, etc.) are ubiquitous in the Internet, but most textbooks, ours included, treat them as afterthoughts. CDNs (content distribution networks) are another example: not part of the classic Internet architecture but essential to its operation today."  Read Larry's blog at https://systemsapproach.org/2024/08/05/what-is-network-architecture-rea….
